CAD Drafter III

SAIC is seeking a CAD Drafter III to support the US Navy in North Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will provide design and drafting support to complete large complex assembly models and drawings, and be an integral part of the team creating/updating Technical Data Packages. Familiarity with ASME standards, Technical Data Packages, and military drawing standards is desired.

About the role

The CAD Drafter III will coordinate frequently with the drafting team lead and project engineer to meet customer demands. Occasional local travel to the customer's facility may be required to develop prototype mounting solutions for military C4ISR systems, focusing on GFE and custom fabrication integration.

Responsibilities

• Provide drafting support to complete large complex parts, assemblies, and 2D drawings, focusing on GFE and custom metalwork/fabrication integration for military C4I systems.
• Draft and document equipment racks, equipment mounting kits, and equipment subassemblies.
• Create detailed drawings/designs using SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD software and AutoCAD 2D for Technical Data Packages (TDP).
• Create/modify solid models and assemblies and maintain configuration management of engineering drawings.
• Understand and create drawings based on the Engineering Drawing Standards Guide (EDSG) and MIL-STD-31000.
• Perform moderately complex tasks using tools such as calipers, gage tools, tape measures, and other mechanical devices to aid in design, development, verification, and validation of prototype fabrications.
• Utilize an advanced Configuration Management (CM) tool called “Windchill PDMLink” by PTC for storage and workflows of tasking to maintain CM.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Three (3) years of experience drafting/illustrating in the electronics field, including computerized drafting applications, digital imaging techniques, AutoCAD, and preparing graphic presentations of complex items.
• Experience with DoD processes and procedures.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Active DoD clearance accepted.
