CAD Drafter I

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides CAD drafting support services to a technical engineering team.
• Performs skilled drafting work in preparing preliminary and final engineering drawings, plans, maps, and exhibits.
• Transforms initial rough product designs using CAD software into working documents.
• Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
• Becomes proficient with company CAD organizational systems and standards.
• Produces finished drawings from preliminary design sketches and instructions provided by design staff.
• Produces detailed layouts from information furnished by design staff.
• Addresses plan check comments including basic plan view level comments, editing text, editing attributes, etc.
• Manipulates existing information to prepare composite exhibits and plans.
• Prepares presentation-type exhibits using proposed information from other consultants or markups from design staff.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as required such as research and construction document scans and copies.

Minimum Job Requirements

• 1-2 years of AutoCAD experience.
• Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role.
• Knowledgeable in all architectural and structural working drawings.
• As-Built field markups for conversion to CAD drawings.
• Experience preparing drawings to company and/or client standards.
• Knowledge of state safety and structure regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to a high school education plus two years of technical or trade school training preferred.
• Experience within dry utilities, Caltrans, or railroad agencies preferred.

2. EKN Engineering recruiters will only schedule interviews for candidates who have applied for a position through our secure portal.
3. No corporate or IT systems at EKN are affected by this scam. The scammers are using EKN’s logo and employee names to impersonate the company.
