CAD Designer III - New Glenn
About the role
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
Responsibilities
- Perform design and maintenance of structural product definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies.
- Cook up fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified systems at any Blue Origin site.
- Build models and drawings of designs.
- Provide guidance on schedule and technical requirements to internal customers.
- Apply company and industry (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, lay-out, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
- Proficiency in design and integration using Creo Parametric.
- Proficiency in drawing generation, checking, and release processes.
- Experience in Windchill.
- Experience selecting standard aerospace hardware, fasteners, bushings, washers.
- Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
- Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years or experience in aerospace development (launch vehicle or aircraft).
