About the role
NEFCO Engineered Supports (NES) is seeking a CAD Designer/Estimator with a mechanical engineering or piping background to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in NEFCO’s stress analysis process to determine necessary loads on pipe hangers.
- Prepare design sketches and bill of materials for pipe hangers and supports.
- Create location drawings to assist with the installation of piping systems.
- Provide AISC detailing and shop fabrication drawings for public transportation and mid-scale structural jobs.
- Prepare nested parts for plasma cutting using Hypertherm software.
- Design and engineer pipe hanger support systems and strut grid systems according to plans and specifications.
- Prepare detailed submittals and locate hangers, supports, and strut grids on drawings.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and contracts, and coordinate with purchasing and sales teams.
- Assist with ongoing contract management from project initiation to completion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (preferred).
- AutoCAD proficiency.
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience.
- Extensive knowledge in pipe hanger and support systems for various types of piping systems.
- Ability to prepare full take-offs, material layouts, technical evaluations, and quote letters for assigned projects.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed submittals and locating hangers, supports, and strut grids on drawings.
- Experience with AISC standards and detailing for steel construction, structural steel fabrication, welding, and design.
- Familiarity with AISC and AWS Codes and Specifications to prepare proper details.
- Experience with Autodesk’s Advanced Steel, Autocad, Inventor, and Revit.
