Core Responsibilities
- Generate 2D and 3D fabrication and installation drawings using CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
- Communicate and collaborate with workers, project managers, and other trades (plumbing, electrical) to resolve clashes and coordinate ductwork routes before manufacturing begins.
- Create detailed "spool drawings," hanger layouts, and cut sheets that fabrication teams will use to physically bend and assemble the metal.
- Determine the exact types (galvanized, aluminum, SST), gauges, and quantities of sheet metal needed.
- Modify drawings to reflect construction changes, RFIs (Requests for Information), and actual field conditions (As-Builts).
- Ensure all models and component designs meet project standards.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and mechanical/HVAC drawings.
- A deep understanding of sheet metal forming, ductwork fittings, and standard HVAC manufacturing processes.
- The ability to visualize spatial constraints and route ducts to avoid obstacles.
- Clear verbal and written skills for running meetings and corresponding with field installers and fabricators.
