Cable Technician
Job Overview
TEKsystems is seeking motivated Cable Technicians to support structured cabling and low-voltage projects throughout the Hartford, CT area. This position is ideal for technicians with experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cabling in commercial environments.
Responsibilities
- Pull, route, and secure Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling
- Terminate copper and fiber cables following industry standards
- Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable trays, conduit, and sleeves
- Perform labeling, documentation, and cable management
- Test and troubleshoot network cabling systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
- Work independently and as part of a team to complete projects on schedule
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of structured cabling or low-voltage experience
- Experience pulling and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, and/or fiber optic cable
- Ability to work on ladders and lifts
- Experience with hand tools and cable testing equipment
- Reliable transportation to project sites
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Certification
- T1/T2, C5/C6, or other low-voltage certifications
- Experience in commercial construction, healthcare, education, or data center environments
- Fiber termination and testing experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in various construction environments
- Comfortable working at heights when required
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Hartford, CT.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
