Responsibilities

Installation and testing associated with Network cabling – Cat.5e, Cat.6, Fiber Optic, Coax, Risers and Multi-Pair Tie Cables. Interpret CAD design drawings and adhere to BICSI – EIA – TIA specifications. Understanding and knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure and voice and data applications a plus. Solid experience in complete pre-cabling preparation, installation of patch panels, punch down 66/110 blocks, 110-patch panel, and various data and voice jacks. Install, terminate, and test all forms of communication cabling.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with commercial cable installation required
• Previous experience with network cables (Cat5, Cat6, etc.) required
• Experience with closet work a plus
• Experience with analog and IP paging is a plus
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Clean driving record required
• Car insurance policy meeting DataVox standards
• Have a vehicle in good working condition
• Must have a working mobile phone
• Must pass background check and drug screen
• Must have their own tools within 60 days of employment, including:
  • Phillips Screwdriver Set (1, 2, & 3)
  • Flathead Screwdriver Set (small, medium, & large)
  • Tape Measure
  • Sheetrock Saw (Keyhole saw)
  • Punch Tool w/ 110 & 66 blade
  • Snips
  • Toner & Wand (Progressive Electronics 200EP or similar)
  • Kleins (linemen pliers) or Side Cutters
  • Crescent Wrench Set (small & medium)
  • Socket Set (3/8 drive ranging from ¼” to ¾”)
  • Open End/Box End Wrench Set (ranging from ¼” to ¾”)
  • Torpedo Level
  • Hammer-Touch Labeler (Brother PT-1090 or PT-1010)
  • Hacksaw
  • Tool Bag or Toolbox (recommend lockable)
  • Flashlight
  • Caulking Gun
  • Channel Locks (small & medium)

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stand, stoop, kneel, drive and reach. Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Working on job sites require usage of required PPE including, safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc.
