This is a Contract to Hire position based in Fort Wayne, IN, with a shift of Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Terminate Cat6 and fiber optic cables
- Layout and install wireway, bus duct, cable tray, switches, receptacles, and related devices
- Build data-center closets: mount and install backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber-optic hardware
- Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required
- Complete all IDC connections (terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels)
- Pull wire and oversee/direct conduit installations and wire-pulling
- Operate two-handed tools (cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.)
- Work both inside and outside buildings during data-center construction
Requirements
- Must possess and be proficient with the tools listed in the job description
- Proven ability to interpret blueprints and project documents (specifications, reporting, quality requirements)
- Knowledge of universal communications color codes
- Entry-level experience in structured cabling
Skills
- Cable and structured cabling installation
- Cat5, Cat6 termination
- Rack-and-stack operations
- Punch-down/IDC terminations
Pay
The pay range for this position is $21.00 – $25.00 per hour. Individual compensation within this range depends on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.
