SMS is seeking an experienced, skilled, and detail-oriented professional to join our team supporting the United States Department of Defense in the National Capital Region. About the role

The successful candidate will join a team responsible for maintaining, coordinating, designing, and overseeing the installation of DoD DISA J6 Pentagon inside and outside plant cable infrastructure, including conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber, and associated cabling elements across the Pentagon, Mark Center, and other National Capital Region locations. This position is primarily on-site in Crystal City, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, coordinate, design, and oversee installation of DoD DISA J6 Pentagon inside plant cable infrastructure (conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber, and associated cabling) in the Pentagon, Mark Center, and other NCR locations.
  • Oversee DISA J6P offered services for outside plant and related facilities in the NCR under Government oversight, following DoD/DISA J6P and commercial best practice procedures, standards, and codes.
  • Provide Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) for communication spaces, pathways, cable racks, cable installation, and termination.
  • Support operation and maintenance, including equipment refreshes and ongoing maintenance of over 1,800 Telecommunication Rooms at the Pentagon, Mark Center, and other DISA J6P Operations buildings.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as Cable Installation Plans (CIP), cut sheets, cost estimates, site surveys, and weekly reports.
  • Create maintenance plans to ensure compliance with DoD, DISA J6P, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience developing layout and design for technology systems, including voice, data, and structured cabling.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, SharePoint, and MS Visio.
  • Strong knowledge of BICSI guidelines and standards, as well as NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, and other industry standards related to low-voltage and telecommunications systems, spaces, and pathways.
  • Expertise in Structured Cabling Systems, including survey, design, installation, and testing/commissioning.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Schedule

Flexible Monday-Friday schedule covering required core contract hours.
