Cable Installation Technician

About the role

Instrata recently acquired Premiere Communications, who operates offices in Charleston, Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, and Florence. They provide services such as Structured Cabling, Cellular Enhancement, A/V, and Data Center services. We have been placing techs with Premiere since 2017, with William being a former TEKsystems employee. The work will primarily be in Charleston, with 10-20% travel to Charlotte and Myrtle Beach.

Responsibilities

  • Install and remove wireless access points (APs) in hospitals and other facilities.
  • Work on both greenfield and existing installations, including pulling, punching down, and terminating cables.
  • Ensure compliance with customer satisfaction standards and top-notch customer service.
  • Work in various environments, including schools and hospitals.
  • Be flexible with work hours, which may include 4 10-hour days or 5 8-hour days, with potential overtime.
  • Handle shift work for hospital projects, particularly for operating room (OR) readiness.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in low-voltage installations.
  • Knowledge of common terminations like patch panels and 110/66 blocks.
  • Understanding of color codes and cable types (cat5, cat6, coax, fiber).
  • OSHA certification.
  • Experience with tools and equipment necessary for the job.
  • Knowledge of RJ45 and RJ11 jacks.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of wireless access point (WIFI) installation and removal.
  • Ability to work in a hospital environment and perform construction tasks.
  • Good communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Adaptability to different work schedules and locations.

Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr.
