Forterra is the go-to provider of ground autonomy solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense, which harnesses the technology for asymmetric warfare in critical conditions.
What you'll do
- Assemble, solder, and wire cable assemblies according to IPC-620 standards.
- Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and specifications to determine assembly requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure that all cables and wire harnesses meet client specifications and industry standards.
- Perform tests on completed cable assemblies to ensure functionality and safety.
- Identify and resolve any issues related to cable assembly, such as faulty wiring or incorrect components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Follow established procedures to ensure the efficient and accurate completion of cable assembly tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- IPC-620 E certification or willing to obtain.
- Proven experience as a Cable Manufacturer or similar role, with a strong background in IPC-620 cable assembly.
- Solid knowledge of IPC-620 standards for cable assembly and wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Hands-on experience with soldering, crimping tools, multimeters and other cable assembly equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in working with complex cable assemblies for industries such as aerospace, military, medical, or automotive.
- Familiarity with cable testing and inspection tools.
- Technical certification or training in electronics or cable assembly.
- 3+ years of wiring harness building experience or equivalent training.
