Cabinet Maker/Fabricator

Job Summary

At the direction of Lead Persons, Shop Foreman, and/or Plant Manager, completes assigned work according to the work order, to the satisfaction of the customer and to the quality standards of Glenn Rieder, LLC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete all duties assigned by the Rough Mill Supervisor, Lead Person, Shop Foreman, or Plant Manager while making the most efficient use of time, raw materials, and equipment.
• Set up, operate, and maintain all relevant tools and machines, including hand routers, saws, stationary equipment, and power hand tools.
• Read and comprehend shop drawings.
• Work 40 to 50+ hour weeks.
• Obey all company, OSHA, and other state and federal safety regulations.
• Keep the department clean and organized.
• Maintain or reduce estimated labor/material costs for each project.
• Consult with engineering and the Production Manager on construction techniques.
• Fabricate custom wood products in accordance with drawings provided by the drafting department.
• Familiarity with architectural millwork products and AWI industry standards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of:
  • Wood species and grades
  • Particle boards
  • Plywoods
  • Hardware
  • Laminates
  • Plastics
  • Fasteners
  • Adhesives
• Work individually with little supervision.
• Work as a team and communicate effectively with management and all employees.
• Train lesser‑skilled employees as directed by the Rough Mill Supervisor, Lead Person, Shop Foreman, or Plant Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some additional training at a technical school is preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years previous experience in a millwork shop, carpentry shop, or related woodworking environment.
• Radius Millwork experience is preferred.
• Ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Must pass a pre‑employment physical / musculoskeletal exam.
• Must pass drug screening.
• Must pass an audiogram test.
• Must be able to lift 50–75 pounds on a daily basis.

Working Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to see and differentiate color, and the ability to focus.
