About the role
Ulrich Barn Builders is looking for a Cabinet Maker/Installer to oversee the creation of cabinetry from start to finish. The Cabinet Maker/Installer will be responsible for constructing custom cabinets with strong attention to detail and then applying appropriate finishes, as well as installing and securing the placement of all cabinetry.
Responsibilities
- Builds custom designed cabinets from start to finish and is responsible for installation
- Remains safe by wearing all safety and protective gear necessary to ensure OSHA and company safety guidelines are being followed
- Manages workflow to ensure that projects are completed on time and deadlines are met
- Creates standard and custom components to cabinets
- Operates a variety of woodworking machines and various hand & power tools to fabricate wooden cabinets
- Selects the appropriate materials, fittings and tools for each task
- Studies blueprints or drawings of cabinets to be constructed
- Marks outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock, according to blueprint or drawing of specifications
- Matches materials for color, grain, or texture
- Cuts resources down to size as needed
- Operates woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointer, mortiser, tenoner, molder, and shaper, to cut and shape parts from woodstock
- Trims component parts for joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels or wood files
- Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine
- Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form a complete unit, using clamps, or clamping machine
- Drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints
- Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of cabinets to prepare them for finishing
- Applies sealant, varnish, and paint to cabinets according to order specifications
- Installs hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls
- Inspects each completed item to ensure that it has been constructed and finished accurately
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a training program or apprenticeship is a plus
- Must have 2-3 years of experience as a Cabinet Maker
- Strong Math skills
- Attention to detail is essential
- Ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Must be physically able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Excellent teamwork and customer service skills
Work Environment
Faith-based office environment with manufacturing facility onsite. Warehouse is a non-climate controlled environment, but the office is climate controlled.
