About the role
The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) seeks to hire a Registered Nurse II to provide direct or indirect professional nursing services in a variety of settings. This position involves conducting home visits to first-time parents using the Nurse-Family Partnership Model, focusing on topics like healthy living during pregnancy, fetal development, child growth and development, and more.
Responsibilities
- Assess health status of individuals, families, and communities
- Develop and implement appropriate nursing interventions
- Monitor and assess the health status of first-time mothers and infants to age two
- Design and provide a plan of care and health education in the areas of Children First Program
- Deliver professional nursing care in an assigned unit, clinic, home, or other setting
- Assure quality health care through various measures such as record review, peer review, direct observation, and assessment of individual, family, and community needs
- Perform specialized nursing functions as educationally prepared
- Be present at the office is an essential function of the job
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Possession of a valid Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or, Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
- One year of professional nursing experience, OR a Bachelor's in Nursing and possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or, Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
- Willingness and ability to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position and possess a valid driver’s license
Qualifications
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques
- Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention
- Knowledge of nursing management of available health care resources
- Knowledge of nutrition and diet therapy
- Knowledge of the functions of various clinical departments
Skills
- Ability to assist in the development, organization, and implementation of an effective nursing care plan
- Ability to provide education and training
- Ability to assess condition and needs of patients, families and communities appropriate to the care setting
- Ability to take appropriate intervention
- Ability to counsel and teach patients and families
- Ability to provide direction or guidance to non-licensed personnel in assigned area of responsibility to ensure quality care
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement an effective nursing care program and to provide education and training
