About the role
Stellar Science is seeking several modern C++ 20/23 Software Engineers with experience creating reusable, maintainable code solving challenging math and physics problems. A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) is required; an advanced degree (master's or PhD) is desired. Join our unique, collaborative team to help implement leading-edge scientific software tools in fascinating domains including space situational/domain awareness, computer vision, directed energy, metamaterials, and biothermal modeling.
Responsibilities
- Create reusable, maintainable code solving challenging math and physics problems
- Collaborate with a diverse team to develop cutting-edge scientific software tools
- Work on projects in domains such as space situational/domain awareness, computer vision, directed energy, metamaterials, and biothermal modeling
- Develop and maintain software using C++, Java, Python, TypeScript, Boost, Eigen, OpenCV, OpenSceneGraph, OpenGL, WebGL, MPI, OpenMP, threads, GPUs, Qt, git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, CMake, pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, reinforcement learning, large language model development, computer vision, data mining, and core ML techniques (classification, regression, clustering)
- Contribute to continuous integration and deployment processes
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to code quality
- Engage in research and development of new technologies and methodologies
Requirements
- BS (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
- Experience in C++ 20/23 programming
- Experience with relevant libraries such as Boost, Eigen, OpenCV, and others
- Experience with cross-platform development on Linux and Windows
- Experience with 3D graphics and user interface development
- Experience with supercomputing technologies like MPI, OpenMP, threads, and GPUs
- Experience with image processing, computer vision, CAD, aerospace vehicles, orbital mechanics, electromagnetics, space domain awareness, modeling and simulation, directed energy, machine learning, and data analysis
- Experience with AFSIM
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field preferred
- Experience with additional languages such as Java, Python, TypeScript
- Experience with relevant libraries such as Boost, Eigen, OpenCV
- Experience with cross-platform development on Linux and Windows
- Experience with 3D graphics and user interface development
- Experience with supercomputing technologies like MPI, OpenMP, threads, and GPUs
