About the role

The Class C Lineman position involves constructing and repairing electrical overhead distribution systems. This role requires working on energized and de-energized powerlines and traveling to various job sites, including out-of-state locations, as needed. Reporting to the Foreman, the primary responsibilities include performing new construction, maintenance, and repairs, climbing different structures, operating bucket trucks, and working outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repairs on overhead distribution systems.
  • Climb different structures (wood, steel, concrete) using approved climbing methods and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners, and pullers and other overhead line equipment.
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, and near energized equipment.
  • Install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies, including on-call rotation.
  • Perform live-line work using approved gloving and hot-stick techniques on energized lines, including troubleshooting and fault locating.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use and possessing a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective gear to isolate differences of potential.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of relevant field experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include two (2) years of relevant field experience, a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Additionally, candidates should be willing to travel long distances on short notice and work outdoors in varying environmental conditions.

Skills

Essential skills include the ability to climb different structures, operate bucket trucks and other overhead line equipment, perform live-line work, and follow all safety protocols. Proficiency in PPE use and understanding of insulated protective gear is also crucial.
