About the role
The primary responsibilities of the Bypass Technician are to provide support for bypass and fusing operations by completing simple HDPE fusion as well as setup, installation, removal, and teardown of bypass systems at jobsites, and to assist in mobilization and demobilization to and from jobsites. The Bypass Technician will generally work under the direct supervision of a Fusion Technician II or higher and will serve as a working team member and individual contributor to the overall team’s success.
Responsibilities
- Enroll in Mersino’s Butt Fusion Certification program up to 24” diameter pipe; complete simple straight run fusion under direct supervision
- Set up the fusion machine under guidance from a Fusion Technician to learn how to set proper hydraulic pressures and heat plate temperatures for the pipe that will be fused
- Complete daily visual and weekly documented equipment inspections of the fusion machine; learn basic fusion machine maintenance such as oil changes, filter changes, hydraulic fluid changes, and general care of the machine
- Move pumps, compressors, generators, hoses, and other equipment under supervision utilizing proper rigging, lift, and suspended load procedures
- Lay out pipes, bolt flanges, and move and prepare other materials on site
- Identify components of pumps and pumping systems such as pipes, fittings, sizes, etc.
- Operate and troubleshoot pumps, pumping equipment, and generators including starting, powering up, monitoring, inspecting, etc.
- Set up and tear down equipment and systems for assigned projects
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to/from job sites
- Perform minor repairs of equipment on site as well as preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles or equipment as directed and as required
- Clean, organize, and maintain jobsites, yard, and shop areas as required
- Adhere to applicable company and regulatory agency environmental, health, and safety standards; ensure safe work practices at all times

Qualifications
- 6-9+ months of experience as a Bypass Technician I or an equivalent role
- 12+ months of experience in HDPE fusion and bypass field operations with proven ability to complete straight run fusion, as well as fusion machine setup, inspections, and preventative maintenance
- Butt fusion certification up to 24” diameter pipe
- Rough Terrain Forklift Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license in state of residence and a clean driving record
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Rigging & Signalperson Certification
