Buyer - Wilsonville OR
What You’ll Do
The Buyer supports Eaton’s supply chain purchasing department by owning a product line. This individual will take leadership of cost reduction projects, quality, and delivery. Performs administrative functions related to ordering and expediting the material required to meet the production schedule and to manage the inventory to meet the plant’s financial and safety objectives.
Negotiation and Purchasing
- Negotiate prices, terms, delivery, and conditions of purchase from suppliers for a variety of assigned commodities.
- Manage all material orders for assigned product lines, including both internal and external vendors.
- Handle escalations of past due Purchase Orders and coordinate with vendors.
- Identify root causes of OTP issues with the vendors to mitigate future OTP issues.
- Drive fast-response to last minute material needs and follow-up to determine root cause and corrective action to sustain improvements.
- Initiate and drive DMR (discrepancy material report) process so our vendors get feedback on issues and drive to root cause.
- Maintain good working relationships with Customers, Distributors, Sales, Supply Chain, and internal plant personnel in support of quality customer service efforts.
- Interface with suppliers, as a representative of Eaton, to provide a most favorable corporate image.
Inventory Management
- Responsible for daily inventory efforts, including adjustments, stock checks, Kanban changes, and performing Kanban charge-outs for internal/external vendors (scan/verify quantity).
- Provide daily up-to-date material status on orders to Production staff & Management.
- Lead inventory efforts (with support from Power Center management) for the location, including facilitating meetings, distribution of inventory materials, ensuring compliance with inventory procedures, etc., to meet Days on Hand (DOH) objectives.
Communication and Coordination
- Cook up communication between engineering, operations, planners, and suppliers to ensure that pertinent information is disseminated accurately and efficiently.
Cost-Out Initiatives
- Drive cost-out initiatives, including premium freight reduction & inventory optimization.
Work Environment
Production facility environment with Personal Protective Equipment requirements including safety shoes, protective eyewear, and high visibility vest. Closed non-temperature-controlled environment. Ability to lift 35lbs. per person and 70lbs. with a buddy lift; bend, twist, grab, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, use both hands to lift and lower materials, and perform all other essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
