Position Description The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading procurement activities and developing sourcing strategies for assigned categories or supplier portfolios. This role drives cost optimization, supplier performance, and supply continuity while aligning procurement initiatives with broader business objectives. As a senior individual contributor, the position serves as a key partner to operations, finance, and engineering, providing strategic input and ensuring best-in-class sourcing practices. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performanceManage strategic supplier relationships, including performance reviews, negotiations, and long-term agreementsLead complex negotiations for pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve measurable cost savings and risk mitigationAnalyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisionsCollaborate cross-functionally with planning, engineering, and operations to support new product introductions (NPI) and demand changesMonitor supplier performance metrics and drive corrective actions to address quality, delivery, or cost issuesIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and supplier baseProvide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers or procurement team membersSupport risk management efforts, including supplier diversification and contingency planningEnsure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements Required Education & Qualifications 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain managementProven experience developing sourcing strategies and managing supplier portfoliosStrong negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and favorable contract termsAdvanced understanding of supply chain dynamics, inventory management, and procurement best practicesProficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and strong Excel/data analysis skillsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilitiesAbility to influence cross-functional stakeholders and operate at a strategic levelExperience with supplier performance management and risk mitigation strategies preferredEducation Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field preferred Why Choose Modine? The specific offer will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related considerations but will be within the stated range.
