Buyer (Senior)

About the role

This position is subject to shift work, including the night shift, weekends, and holidays. A shift differential is paid to employees working the night shift.

Responsibilities

• Assists sworn personnel in follow-up investigations of assigned cases, both in-house and in the field.
• Affords assistance in maintaining division records.
• Receives crime reports from the public by telephone or in person and completes all required reports.
• Assists laboratory technicians as needed.
• Answers telephones and assists the public by answering inquiries.
• Conducts certain types of criminal and traffic investigations.
• Provides parking control.

Requirements

• Age: Must be 18 years of age on the date of the written exam.
• Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
• Licenses: Possession of a valid Class "C" California driver's license with a minimum of two (2) years driving experience.
• Certificates: A valid California Standard First Aid card must be obtained after appointment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge: Good knowledge of the geography of the City and locations of important buildings.
• Skills: Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, react quickly and calmly in emergencies, obtain and verify information through telephone contacts and personal interviews, conduct investigations and write reports.
