Job Responsibilities
- Support for Project Field Purchaser(s)
- Develop, issue, and evaluate Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for materials and services
- Cook up, coordinate, and clarify material needs and timelines with project managers, superintendents, and field staff
- Research, evaluate, generate, and manage purchase orders in line with company policies and project budgets, ensuring the best value
- Assist with expediting orders to guarantee on-time delivery and reduce project delays
- Spot and build relationships with vendors and suppliers (sometimes local to the project site)
- Receive, vet, and approve new vendor requests
- Track and resolve discrepancies related to deliveries, pricing, or quality issues
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, receipts, and documentation for audits and reports
- Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures and safety standards
- Aid with cost tracking and reporting to assist project financial performance
- Aid with verifying delivered quantities against PO before releasing payment
- Aid with performing weekly receipt inspections. Lead on resolving any issues
- Issue and manage Blanket PO’s as needed
Requirements
- Education & Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or field support experience (construction, energy, or industrial environment preferred)
- Strong knowledge of materials, equipment, and vendor sourcing in facility services and operations and repairs
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and purchasing/ERP systems
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Experience in operations, repairs and facility services (Preferred)
- Familiarity with local supplier networks and logistics coordination (Preferred)
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills (Preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel to project site(s), if needed
Physical Requirements
- Active construction site environments (when visiting the project site)
- Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases, if needed
- Working in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs.
