About the Role
The Buyer/Planner will procure components to ensure material availability for production while developing effective production planning to optimize inventory levels and control costs. This role encompasses production planning, supplier account management, inventory data maintenance, inventory management support, and allocations. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders are essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for specified product lines.
- Assist in developing and executing procurement strategies, including obtaining quotes and negotiating pricing to maintain strategic supplier relationships.
- Manage key vendor relationships, coordinate RMAs, and maintain open order balances.
- Track order statuses, expedite deliveries, and resolve issues or discrepancies.
- Analyze demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels to determine optimal ordering quantities and timing.
- Support inventory planning by collaborating with manufacturing, engineering, production, and logistics teams to ensure seamless component integration.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures and lead process improvement initiatives for procurement and inventory management.
- Maintain accurate inventory data and support production schedules to balance supply and demand effectively.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in both buying and production planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation skills for securing favorable pricing and terms from suppliers.
- Proven ability to analyze production data, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and quality of work, with strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Great Plains preferred) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related studies preferred.
