Buyer/Planner

Location: Osceola, WI or Santa Teresa, NM. Full-time exempt position reporting to the Director of Operations within the Materials department.

About the Role

The Buyer is responsible for the timely planning and purchasing of materials to support production schedules and inventory strategies. This role involves seeking and establishing new supply sources for new and existing products, supplier oversight, and management to ensure schedules, costs, and quality objectives are achieved. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare (plan and schedule) purchase orders.
• Manage material flow to maintain optimal inventory levels, supporting on-time customer deliveries while minimizing inventory holdings.
• Process purchase requisitions for non-inventory items.
• Confirm and track purchase orders with suppliers.
• Maintain supplier information within the ERP system.
• Assist and support activities including inventory evaluation and management, reporting, data mining, analysis, and process improvements.
• Track supplier performance and assist in developing and maintaining supplier relationships.
• Pursue continuous personal and professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain and/or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of supply chain activities, including transforming raw materials and components into finished products delivered to end customers.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills for situations without routine solutions.
• Understanding of effective teamwork dynamics to attain higher performance levels.
• Excellent planning and organizing skills.
• Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
• Customer-focused approach in all activities.
• C2 (Proficient) English proficiency level.

Preferred Experience

• 1-3 years of direct purchasing experience.
• APICS Certified in Purchasing Management (C.P.M) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Demonstrated professionalism and respect for associates at all levels.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to talk or listen to fellow team members and suppliers.

Schedule

Expected hours of work are 8 A.M. – 5 P.M., Monday through Friday, with an estimated total of 45 hours per week. The schedule may fluctuate based on business needs.

Travel

Up to 20% travel may be required.
