Buyer Planner

About the Role

Nidec Minster Corporation is seeking a Buyer/Planner to plan and control Manufacturing and Purchase Orders in support of on-time performance of production schedules. The role aims to balance maximizing productivity and minimizing inventory, and to procure and expedite materials and resources in support of the final assembly schedule while adhering to MRP planning logic.

Responsibilities

• Release and act on manufacturing orders in support of the department work schedule and shipment plan set forth by the master production schedule.
• Review and act on MRP messages as they relate to manufacturing and purchase orders.
• Review and respond to shortages daily.
• Resolve transaction discrepancies.
• Work with other departments to develop a smooth flow of material from suppliers to customers.
• Responsible for procurement of all commodity type items along with straight Buy items.
• Monitor Internal and External supplier performance in areas of Cost, Quality, Delivery, and Service. Works with suppliers to develop solutions.
• Ensures inventory levels for all components supporting Production Schedule, inclusive of components not supported by BOM, are in support of production requirements with the least inventory investment.
• Supports inventory accuracy on all stock areas supporting the Final Assembly schedule through cycle counting and managing "Point of Use" suppliers.
• Make recommendations involving manning levels and supplier selection.
• Develop and refine metrics for tracking both supplier and assembly performance.
• Manage non-conforming material to respective suppliers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of MRP/ERP concepts. APICS Certification desired. SAP experience a plus.
• 3-5 years of experience in production planning or procurement.
• Ability to perform computations or analysis using basic statistical, financial, or logical concepts; or complex mathematical concepts.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
