About The Job

The Buyer II is responsible for purchasing merchandise or commodities for resale and documenting the process. Key responsibilities include:

• Interviews and confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
• Selects appropriate vendor(s) for purchase of products and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitation and scope of authority.
• Prepares purchase orders for procurement of goods.
• Determines whether to transfer goods between locations instead of making a direct purchase from vendor.
• Captures information between divisions and vendors.
• Authorizes payment of invoices and/or return of merchandise and resolves any discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, credit memos, and receiving reports.
• Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as product purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
• May be required to drive a company vehicle.
• Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Two years of work experience/training is preferred.
• Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English is required.
• Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle.
• Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.

Work Environment and Physical Aspects

The work environment for this position will be in an office setting and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, you could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand, sit, stand (8 hours a day or more), lift, carry, push or pull (up to and including 50lbs or more), reach overhead (up to and including 25lbs), climb, grip, grasp, twist using hands and wrists, bend, stoop for long periods of time, work below knee levels for short periods of time, and work above shoulder level for short periods.
