Buyer II
Temporary assignment in Aliso Viejo, CA lasting approximately 4 months. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.
About the role
Coordinate scheduling, procurement, and expediting for specific product lines to meet master schedule and customer order requirements. Maintain inventory levels supporting production, R&D, and customer needs while optimizing inventory.
Responsibilities
- Place and reschedule Purchase Orders with Supply Planning to meet production plans
- Build supplier relationships
- Identify supply sources and alternatives to meet business needs
- Analyze manufacturing data to guide decisions impacting production and processes
- Identify and implement cost savings/avoidance opportunities
- Process purchase requisitions/orders and implement procurement strategies while managing risk
- Serve as key contact for requesters, managers, and suppliers on PO/PR issues
- Resolve quality, pricing, and delivery issues with suppliers
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable on invoice/receiving discrepancies
- Keep critical tasks moving through delays; support process improvement
- Work under minimal supervision while mentoring less experienced peers
- Comply with applicable laws, Quality Management System requirements, and Ethics/Integrity standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business or technical field, or equivalent experience
- 3–5 years of manufacturing procurement experience
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, BOM, and planning
- Project management and organizational skills
- Experience with lean principles and supply chain/material flow management
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
- Experience developing/implementing ordering policies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgment and time management
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Teams, Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical device industry/supply base experience
- APICS or similar certification
Pay
Hourly rate between $36.00 – $40.00, depending on geographic location, experience, and qualifications.
