About the Role
Coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization. This position is expected to contribute beyond assigned responsibilities wherever necessary to ensure the success of our endeavors.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity from intent to purchase through delivery.
- Analyzes commodity requirements, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and delivery date.
- Investigates and interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet specified requirements.
- Negotiates the lowest possible cost for commodities while balancing quality and schedule needs.
- Works with program managers to confirm customer contract requirements are stated on purchase orders per company and government regulations.
- Ensures commodities are delivered on schedule, at negotiated prices, and meet quality standards.
- Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents for accurate record retention.
- Enters purchase orders into the ERP system.
- Submits RFQs to suppliers and analyzes responses to determine appropriate vendors.
- Assists Accounts Payable with invoice issues.
- Follows up on Supplier Deviation Requests and Technical Help submissions from suppliers.
- Notifies suppliers of nonconforming parts and secures lead time for reworked or replacement parts.
- Reviews reports such as Late to Required, Exceptions, and Shortage Reports, updating purchase orders accordingly.
- Attends kick-off meetings to provide input on long lead times or difficult parts.
- Attends MPS meetings to review shortages.
Requirements
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork skills and a high degree of initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation.
- Proficiency with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; AA/AS degree preferred.
- 2–5+ years of experience in a purchasing role.
Work Environment
Working conditions are typical for a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment. Employees must adhere to company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when required.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.14 is required.
