Buyer I

About the role

The Buyer I position is reporting to the Sr. Supply Chain Manager and is part of the central Supply Chain team supporting JELD-WEN's North American Doors and Windows businesses. This role manages the supply chain for raw materials to manufacturing facilities across North America, focusing on improving Supplier OTIF, TIRA, and Forecast Accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Timely initiation of purchase orders in ERP system
• Ensure materials are available for forecasted and/or confirmed customer order fulfillment
• Communicate with production facilities and suppliers frequently to ensure material availability
• Set and manage planning parameters to achieve and sustain targeted inventory levels
• Analyze inventory variances and project stockouts to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
• Lead shortage mitigation and recovery planning efforts to ensure uninterrupted production
• Work with Sourcing Category Managers to develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with Lean materials management
• Manage product offering changes and transition logistics with suppliers, Materials Managers, Logistics Managers, and Commodity Managers to achieve On Time Delivery targets
• Drive actions with Suppliers, Materials Managers, Logistics Managers, and Commodity Managers to optimize material flow and inventory investment for assigned product lines through the entire value stream

Qualifications

• Two year Associates degree from a college or university; or 2+ years’ experience in supply chain, sales, or operations in a manufacturing environment
• Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word, Intermediate Excel functionality required (Pivot Tables, Vlookup, basic statistical formulas)
• Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) from college or university in a supply chain, business, or engineering discipline; or 4+ years’ experience in supply chain, sales, or operations in a manufacturing environment
• APICS/ASCM or ISM Certification
• Certified in data analysis software including intermediate or higher MS Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, MS Access & SQL, etc.
• Industry standard ERP (SAP, Oracle, Syteline, JDE, etc) experience
• A basic understanding of manufacturing process improvement techniques including Continuous Improvement, SQDCI, TPS, and JIT
