About the role
This position is based in Columbia, SC and reports to Matt Smith.
Responsibilities
- Maintain relations with suppliers.
- Place orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to production requirements.
- Receive and handle order confirmations.
- Check and modify purchase orders based on changes in the production plan using the Shortage List and Open Purchase Order List.
- Track shipments and expedite them if needed.
- Conduct regular, weekly stock checks to avoid overstock.
- Minimize risk of obsolescence through weekly review of the obsolete report.
- Correspond with freight forwarders, warehouses, and organize transportation as needed.
- Handle claims and settle debit/credit issues.
- File and record all necessary procurement documents.
- Check inventory of critical materials (personally if needed) using the Shortage List.
- Resolve inventory discrepancies by coordinating with warehouse personnel.
- Ensure purchasing data privacy.
- Secure all active components according to production needs, on time, and at the requested price.
- Review requisitions and MRP output.
- Confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Order, reschedule, and cancel materials based on requisitions and MRP output.
- Maintain procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery, and inventories.
- Manage suppliers to meet price, delivery, and quality expectations; escalate issues when appropriate.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Investigate inventory levels and monitor material movement through the production cycle.
- Conduct quarterly supplier reviews.
- Maintain procurement records, reports, and metrics.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP software.
- English language knowledge, data entry, and ten-key skills.
- Ability to read, research, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations.
- Ability to apply common-sense comprehension to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
