Responsibilities
- Develop strong vendor partnerships and collaborate with suppliers on product development, private brand initiatives, and product label development.
- Manage program management for co-op, vendor allowances, and promotional strategies, negotiating pricing, vendor terms, and opportunity buys.
- Oversee communication with Stores and Distribution Centers, ensuring efficient product flow to stores.
- Visit RK Stores to understand store challenges and establish open communication.
- Stay updated on market dynamics and competition, managing pricing, sales, and profit margins.
- Conduct category reviews, develop seasonal merchandise assortments, and create merchandising plans.
- Place, track, and ensure complete and on-time delivery of all new store orders, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Generate and leverage reports for effective decision-making, optimizing "in stock" on basic items, and reducing inventory and liabilities.
- Develop and submit advertising and promotional plans to increase sales and store traffic, ensuring accuracy of print advertising and product in stock.
- Collaborate with the Digital Aisle Team to identify assortment, placement, promotions, and marketing strategies.
- Provide timely direction on new SKU’s and new programs to Store Planning, ensuring accurate planograms and appropriate groupings for volume levels.
- Lead the team to drive sales, manage inventory, and achieve financial goals, creating and communicating a strategic vision for the department.
- Lead impactful projects that contribute to the success and growth of Rural King, demonstrating leadership principles from the Thrive Leadership Program.
- Actively participate in learning initiatives, providing friendly, proactive, and professional support to others, and adhering to Rural King’s values.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of multi-unit purchasing experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with high proficiency in Excel preferred.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn Oracle Systems.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of retail business practices and excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
