Daily role and responsibilities

• Process production materials through all steps of the supply chain, both internally in our machining facility and externally at sub-contract suppliers
• Co-ordinate supplier schedules and ensure completion on time, to plan
• Provide updates to the programme lead on potential issues with production orders
• Support daily reviews
• Liaise with Engineering, Production and Quality departments regarding progress and issues
• Project-based materials ownership
• Provide accurate costing information and specifications from suppliers
• Supply chain development
• Identify, evaluate, and select supplies based on quality, price, and reliability
• Negotiate prices, terms and conditions to obtain the best quality supply and commercial agreement with suppliers
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues (delivery, quality, compliance)
• Develop and maintain high quality trading relationships with suppliers and secure favourable pricing
• Review purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders, and track deliveries to ensure timely arrival
• As needed, expedite orders or deliveries to meet project requirements
• Deliver quantifiable cost saving results without compromising quality
• Conducts market research and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities

Requirements

• Talented Buyer with previous experience (2+ years) gained within an aerospace and/or manufacturing environment
• Bachelors degree in a Buying or Engineering related discipline
• A strong understanding of purchasing techniques demonstrated through negotiation and managing the supply base
• Experience of sourcing complex machined components
• US Citizenship or an existing Green Card holder due to our customer facilities access requirements
