About the role

Valiant TMS, a global provider of intelligent automation solutions, is seeking a Buyer to join their Procurement team in Columbia, South Carolina. The ideal candidate should be passionate about supplier management, strategic sourcing, and supporting industrial automation projects from proposal through delivery.

Responsibilities

• Identify and select suppliers for U.S. projects in coordination with the team in Austria
• Execute RFQs, price comparisons, and support negotiations
• Create and manage purchase orders and invoices in SAP
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support implementation efforts
• Maintain supplier master data and ensure data accuracy
• Support supplier audits, visits, and evaluations as needed
• Assist in ensuring warranties and documentation are obtained for purchased items
• Provide support to the Proposal and Estimating teams with purchasing-related information
• Support commercial component purchasing, inventory activities, reviewing Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering drawings, and consolidating materials to suppliers for assembly

Requirements

• Completed post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Several years of professional experience in technical purchasing, ideally in the field of automation or manufacturing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP/SAP experience required
• Proficient in business-level English
• Knowledge of contract law and order processing is an advantage
• An independent, structured, and collaborative way of working
• Willingness to travel (5–10%)
