Position Summary
As a Buyer at United Electric Supply Co. Inc., you will be responsible for procuring supplies and materials to support the company's resale operations, while maintaining efficient inventory control.
Position Responsibilities
- Analyzes buy lines considering demand, past usage, economic order quantities, and other variables, which may affect cost and profit.
- Purchases inventory for assigned branch locations.
- Develops positive relationships with vendors. Discusses problems, buying terms, new products, and negotiates best price and delivery.
- Approves new products ensuring the sales force is aware of them.
- Solves problems related to vendor shipping issues affecting inventory and customer service.
- Communicates regularly with Product Specialist, keeping abreast of market conditions, competition, and new products.
- Oversees effective management of inventory for assigned buy lines.
- Maintains specific annual goals for inventory turnover, fill rate, and minimizing dead and excess inventory.
- Aids purchasing manager with the vendor evaluation process.
- Supports all the company-endorsed product lines with focus on I-MARK manufacturers.
- Diligently reviews procurement queue to address emergency orders.
- Maintains oversight of freight, transfers, restocking fees, and other costs associated with purchases and returns, keeping them to a minimum.
- Reviews inventory exception reports including negative inventory, shortages, stockouts, and purchasing exceptions to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Enters transfer requests by sales to address customer needs.
- Assists return goods coordinator as needed to monitor excess and defective stock returns.
- Proactively monitors job queue, communicates with branch and corporate personnel via email, trackers, and other means.
- Assists in physical inventories as needed.
- Inputs Excel spreadsheets under the direction of the buyers and purchasing manager as directed.
- Accountable for achieving established inventory performance metrics including inventory turns, fill rate, supplier performance, excess inventory reduction, and customer service objectives.
- Works closely with all internal departments, combining individual efforts to better serve the customer.

Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of Eclipse and general computer applications as well as Microsoft Office Software.
- Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Sales experience preferred.
- Attentiveness to details and problem-solving skills.
- Organization and time management skills.
