Buyer
About the role
The Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient procurement of goods and services necessary for the organization's operations. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing process, from identifying supplier options to negotiating contracts and finalizing purchase orders. The Buyer works closely with supply chain, production, and finance teams to optimize cost reduction strategies while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full purchasing cycle including requisition review, supplier selection, negotiation, and purchase order issuance.
- Collaborate with suppliers globally to source materials and services that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Utilize ERP and MRP systems to track inventory levels, forecast demand, and schedule timely procurement activities.
- Implement cost reduction initiatives by analyzing spend data and identifying opportunities for supplier consolidation or alternative sourcing.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, supplier contracts, and bar code inventory data to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Cook with internal departments such as production, quality assurance, and finance to align procurement with operational needs.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or contract terms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or supply management roles.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and MRP software for procurement and inventory management.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, purchase order management, and supplier negotiation.
- Demonstrated experience in cost reduction and supplier relationship management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Supply Chain or Purchasing such as CPSM or CPP.
- Experience with global sourcing and managing international suppliers.
- Familiarity with bar code inventory systems and automated procurement tools.
- Advanced skills in data analysis and spend management software.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.

- Utilizes supply management and purchasing process expertise daily to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
- Applies cost reduction skills by analyzing supplier proposals and negotiating favorable terms to maximize organizational savings.
- Proficient in ERP and MRP systems to maintain accurate inventory records, forecast demand, and streamline purchase order workflows.
- Knowledge of global sourcing to identify and engage with international suppliers, expanding the supply base and improving competitiveness.
- Familiarity with bar code systems to support inventory accuracy and traceability, enhancing operational efficiency and compliance.
