About the role
Responsible for the acquisition of materials and services and the flow of goods in our supply chain for the Machine Shop and Duroglide Divisions. Manages daily tasks related to the incoming supply of raw materials to support production requirements. Elevates supply issues and concerns to appropriate parties and aids in developing process improvement plans to enhance the purchasing process and streamline the supply chain.
Works on cost savings initiatives, drives down inventory dollars (excess and obsolete), and manages mins/safety stock on a quarterly basis.
Responsibilities
- Process Purchase Orders and Requisitions, verifying nomenclature, part number, and specifications for inventory, R&D items, and non-stock items.
- Determine root causes for late shipments and find opportunities for improvement; resolve supply issues with vendors.
- Communicate delivery dates internally as needed and collaborate with Accounting to reconcile receipt and inventory discrepancies.
- Work on projects to drive down costs, improve delivery, and maintain high-quality standards.
- Establish, build, and maintain relationships with key suppliers; perform vendor evaluation and selection.
- Forecast and communicate market trends to business partners.
- Manage an inventory reduction program to decrease excess and obsolete inventory.
- Manage the sub-contract process and communicate pricing to Sales and Operations.
- Elevate supply chain issues such as late deliveries or risks to appropriate managers and stakeholders in a timely fashion.
- Participate in teamwork across departments and divisions to drive positive results and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; or five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and percentages.
- Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
- Completion and maintenance of Safety Training according to the Safety Training Matrix.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Purchasing Manager Certification (CPM).
- American Production and Inventory Control Society Certified (APICS).
