As part of Engineered Air Movement, TAMCO is an innovative manufacturer of high-end, superior quality dampers and air control products serving commercial, industrial, and institutional markets.

As a Buyer, you will be critical to the company's success by effectively managing the purchase order process, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of products. As a key member of the purchasing team, you will follow up on outstanding receipts for purchase orders, expedite purchase order changes, and will be integral to projects related to purchasing and inventory control. The successful Buyer will have expertise in procurement processes as well as strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Issue and manage purchase orders in alignment with demand forecasts, inventory targets, and production schedules.
  • Monitor and track outstanding purchase orders to ensure timely receipt of products.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve any issues or delays to ensure inventory availability and timely delivery.
  • Update purchase order information as needed (cost, quantity, delivery date).
  • Coordinate with internal teams to implement necessary modifications and ensure accurate order fulfilment.
  • Communicate delivery times and updates through appropriate channels, such as in SAP or via reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records, including purchase orders and supplier information.
  • Foster positive relationships with suppliers, acting as a key point of contact for inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with others (manufacturing, sourcing, engineering) to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock levels, identify discrepancies, and proactively address shortages or excesses.
  • Analyze purchasing data, supplier performance levels, purchase history, and cost trends.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize inventory levels and provide insights to management to support decision making processes and improvements.
  • Identify gaps in current processes and take initiative to develop and implement better procurement, planning and supply chain practices.
  • Challenge existing ways of working and recommend more efficient or scalable solutions.
  • Support sourcing activities such as RFQs and supplier transitions, resulting in cost reduction, supply reliability improvements and total value enhancements.
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of buying/purchasing experience within a manufacturing and/or multi-site environment.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems – Infor preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory control, and supply chain principles.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in sourcing activities such as supplier negotiations, total cost of ownership, supplier strategy, and developing and maintaining supplier relationships.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizens, Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and completeness in data entry and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), particularly Excel for data analytics.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 and represents a good faith estimate as to what ideal candidates are likely to expect. Offers are tailored within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate's experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. It is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan.
