Essential Function
Captures activities related to the procurement of materials, products, and services for Silfex, supporting daily operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Affirms that materials, products, and/or services are ordered and delivered on schedule in a cost-effective manner while adhering to all quality and corporate standards.
- Manages low-dollar spend commodities such as uniforms, MRO VMI programs, canteen vending, etc.
- Creates and publishes exception reports from ERP system showing gaps in new part setup, supplier certifications, and contract management.
- Supports keying master data for supplier and consumable setup.
- Works with Accounts Payable on resolving receiving/invoicing issues.
- Supports various ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Manages supplier banking change process on behalf of Supply Chain.
- Maintains timely control and accuracy of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate record retention using ERP software.
- Analyzes the requirements of the material, product, or service, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date needed.
- Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested material, product, or service.
- Advises company personnel or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
- Negotiates the lowest possible cost balanced against optimal quality and production needs.
- Applies lean principles and participates in lean concepts, especially when ordering material for the shop.
- Tracks the performance of suppliers in quality and delivery.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and applies Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.
- Carries out special projects and all other additional duties as assigned.
- Fulfills safety policies and reports any unsafe conditions to relevant departments.
- Supports the application of lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
- Performs tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned by department management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years related experience.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including knowledge in the use of the Internet and software programs such as Microsoft Office products and ERP systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to multi-task effectively in a high-paced environment.
- Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
- Must possess strong attention to details.
- Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision.
- Must be able to attain sufficient task success to establish credibility with management, staff, and employees.
