Responsibilities
- Grow and manage a book of business consisting of Commercial, Industrial and Dealer accounts for both Ferrous (FE) and Non-Ferrous (NF) materials.
- Use exceptional communications and relationship building skills to build, deepen, and support long-lasting relationships with all assigned accounts.
- Negotiate pricing and service agreements to increase volume and profitability.
- Purchase scrap metals and materials following current market conditions and within pricing standards and models as set by the General Manager and National Sales Team.
- Conduct regularly scheduled supplier visits and sales activities to strengthen relationships and stay informed about business and market conditions.
- Maintain knowledge of various federal, state, and local environmental regulations to ensure compliance for the purchase and processing of materials.
- Demonstrate exceptional and ethical customer service and sales skills to ensure repeat business.
- Participate in the development of regional and individual purchasing, marketing, and profitability goals.
- Maintain accurate records for all purchasing, sourcing, prospecting, and follow-up activities.
- Partner with facility General Managers in the inspection of scrap metals and materials to ensure specification, volume, and pricing targets are being met.
Qualifications
- Average of 4 years Buyer (Account Management) experience in the scrap metals recycling industry.
- Strong contract negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated buying/selling skills and product knowledge.
- Ability to generate and qualify leads and close deals.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Proficient in MS Office programs. SAI or similar software experience a plus.
