This highly visible position supports daily production requirements across multiple manufacturing locations. The Buyer partners with the Operations Planning community to execute the business plan and provide world-class customer service. The scope of this role will grow as business priorities emerge within OPW Clean Energy Solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sr. Buyer/Planner in implementing and executing sourcing projects, strategies, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Track and implement cost-reduction initiatives to improve company performance and profitability.
  • Monitor key cost factors with suppliers to mitigate risk and align with corporate objectives.
  • Execute sourcing and procurement strategies, including creating and reconciling purchase orders for inventory and non-inventory items.
  • Request and coordinate quotes for the Sr. Buyer Planner.
  • Expedite materials from vendors as needed.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships, focusing on cost reduction and eliminating inefficiencies in the procurement process.
  • Develop alternative sourcing options and recommendations.
  • Implement material changes generated by Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and support the sourcing and production ramp-up of new product introductions.
  • Execute day-to-day tactical procurement activities.
  • Coordinate deliveries and shipments for open purchase orders.
  • Determine order quantities based on demand (MRP) and inventory reorder reporting.
  • Communicate product delivery updates internally with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate import shipments from overseas suppliers.
  • Reconcile vendor quality and shipping discrepancies.
  • Execute special assignments and projects as they arise.
  • Administer drop shipment consolidation from vendors to freight forwarders.
  • Coordinate efforts with applicable stakeholders.
  • Complete receivers for the accounting and purchasing departments.
  • Schedule and coordinate with third-party contractors for vendor services and maintenance issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of procurement experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Associate degree in business or supply chain preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain preferred.
  • Experience in project management, sourcing, supplier relationships, and vendor communication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on work ethic with a results-driven focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems; Infor XA is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in challenging environments.
  • Punctual, reliable, and able to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Team player who works well in a group setting.
  • Comfortable with verbal communication when written communication is unavailable or ineffective.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.

Pay

Pay is determined based on job-related factors such as responsibilities, experience, education/training, location, and required skills. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in the applicable bonus plan.
