Responsibilities

  • Purchase maintenance and factory supplies as required.
  • Run MRP and order raw materials as needed.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Effectively maintain professional business relationships with suppliers.
  • Acquire supplies that are critical for the success of business operations.
  • Support inventory cycle count program.
  • Purchase the proper supplies and materials according to specifications.
  • Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications etc.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate updating of the computer systems.
  • Maintain compliance with all Marmon IEI Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
  • Support and participate in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.
  • Provide coverage in the absence of the Sr. Buyer.
  • Work as a team with peers, managers and Marmon IEI employees.
  • Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.
  • Monitor and adhere to applicable laws, regulations and policies regarding the purchase of goods and services.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Business or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience as a buyer or in a similar position.
  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable purchasing laws, regulations and policies.
  • Ability to read and interpret production and materials reports.
  • Knowledge of inventory processes and cycle counts.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic, statistics, and other specific mathematical applications.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, in writing and interpersonally.
  • Solid knowledge in Microsoft applications and applicable production applications.
  • Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-starter: ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in Wire and Cable a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position sitting, talking, looking at a computer, charts/graphs and performing repetitive motions.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
  • Ability to briefly work in warm and noisy environment while on the production floor.
  • Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25lbs.
