Responsibilities
- Purchase maintenance and factory supplies as required.
- Run MRP and order raw materials as needed.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Effectively maintain professional business relationships with suppliers.
- Acquire supplies that are critical for the success of business operations.
- Support inventory cycle count program.
- Purchase the proper supplies and materials according to specifications.
- Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications etc.
- Ensure prompt and accurate updating of the computer systems.
- Maintain compliance with all Marmon IEI Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
- Support and participate in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives.
- Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.
- Provide coverage in the absence of the Sr. Buyer.
- Work as a team with peers, managers and Marmon IEI employees.
- Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.
- Monitor and adhere to applicable laws, regulations and policies regarding the purchase of goods and services.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Business or a related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years previous experience as a buyer or in a similar position.
- Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of applicable purchasing laws, regulations and policies.
- Ability to read and interpret production and materials reports.
- Knowledge of inventory processes and cycle counts.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organization and documentation skills.
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic, statistics, and other specific mathematical applications.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate verbally, in writing and interpersonally.
- Solid knowledge in Microsoft applications and applicable production applications.
- Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting skills.
- Self-starter: ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience in Wire and Cable a plus.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position sitting, talking, looking at a computer, charts/graphs and performing repetitive motions.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
- Ability to briefly work in warm and noisy environment while on the production floor.
- Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25lbs.
