About the role
The Filmetrics group in San Diego is seeking a Buyer to join our team. This role requires experience in electronics and optical procurement, along with the ability to collaborate with vendors on technical requirements and lead strategic discussions with cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze purchase requisitions, RFQ, and evaluate suppliers to support the current build plan.
- Coincide purchasing activities with Production, Planning and Engineering to acquire inventory in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Coincide any changes with Sales and Production as appropriate to evaluate impact.
- Own Purchase Order management, e.g., ensure delivery on-time (OTD) and rescheduling.
- Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity.
- Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services).
- Monitor the cost, schedule and scope of assigned suppliers/subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
- Develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive. May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.
- Interact closely with suppliers and manufacturing engineering to resolve quality issues.
- Buyer point of contact for Engineering Change Order review and implementation.
- Work with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
- Requires domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to build effective relationships across suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead supplier negotiations, manage supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience developing and facilitating supplier business reviews, performance scorecards, and corrective action plans.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management best practices, procurement processes, and compliance requirements, with the ability to ensure adherence to company policies and external regulations.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and support a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, pivot tables, and trend identification.
- Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
- APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP) or equivalent supply chain certification preferred.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented professional with a demonstrated ability to work independently and drive initiatives to completion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience in a manufacturing or high-tech environment preferred.
Qualifications
- Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; OR
- Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years; OR
- Equivalent work experience
Pay
$104,000.00 - $176,800.00 Annually
