About the role
This position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and building relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain for aerospace materials and components. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing procurement strategies, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and build relationships with suppliers to maintain a reliable supply chain.
- Create and manage purchase orders, requisitions, and solicit bid proposals.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
- Collaborate with inventory and production teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Ensure purchased materials meet quality standards and industry certifications.
- Monitor supplier performance and market trends for cost savings and risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities.
- Provide regular reports on procurement performance and inventory levels.
- Support the creation and management of purchase agreements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure materials are available for manufacturing processes.
- Continuously monitor supplier performance and market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation.
Requirements
- Self-motivated and ambitious with a clear sense of integrity and professional responsibility.
- Able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and change approaches to fit situations.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to converse with a diverse technical customer base and collect/disseminate data clearly and concisely.
- Able to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
- A U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee).
- High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of industry standards, materials, and ISO certifications (e.g., AS9100, FAR, DFARS).
- Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to make informed procurement decisions.
- Knowledge of cost management and budgeting processes.
- Experience monitoring inventory levels.
