Job Summary
Meet the procurement needs of the organization by effectively handling the acquisition and management of the highest quality goods and services at the lowest overall cost in a fair and equitable manner. Supportive of the Village mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations.
Essential Job Functions
- Orders supplies and services to meet the needs of the Village
- Develops and manages relationships with suppliers to ensure that they provide high-quality products at competitive prices
- Returns merchandise to vendors when necessary
- Follows up on the status of orders already placed and provides up-to-date information on them by checking with vendors
- Makes recommendations to dispose or repair equipment
- Maintains up-to-date procurement and inventory records
- Reconciles and approves payment of vendor invoices
- Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements
- Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department
- Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct
Education & Skills
- High school education required
- Intermediate keyboarding skills and knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Intermediate skill using typical office equipment: copier, calculator, printer, scanner and pager
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to effectively deal with difficult customers
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate proficiently to complete required reports, and interact with others
- Ability to exhibit professionalism, tact and patience when communicating with others
- Ability to interact effectively and empathetically with patients and their families
- Advanced phone etiquette required
Experience
- One – three years purchasing experience preferred
