About the role
The Buyer at Prince Industries is responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring supplier relationships, and driving business growth and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; recommends suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
- Works to advance sourcing programs and verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
- Estimates values, prepares instructions, issues purchase orders, change notices, and coordinates with suppliers and departments.
- Maintains procurement records, coordinates quality matters, and develops engineering changes with suppliers.
- Expedites delivery of goods, maintains On-Time Delivery Performance Reports, and resolves late deliveries.
- Negotiates bids or purchasing contracts, verifies bills, and approves payments.
- Performs weekly reviews and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to generate reports and business correspondences.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong computer skills for procurement software.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Continuing education or formal training desired.
Physical Job Requirements
- Regularly walks or sits for the duration of the workday, 9 hours.
- Frequently walks, stands, stoops, kneels, reaches, bends, performs repetitive hand movements, reads, writes, speaks English, communicates clearly and accurately, adjusts focus and judges depth, communicates in noisy environments, and uses close, distance, and peripheral vision.
