Buyer
Position Purpose
Reporting directly to a Purchase Manager or Senior Buyer, the role is primarily responsible for the commercial management of a portfolio of parts and / or services that are required within a particular manufacturing location. The role will be required to have an in-depth understanding of the supply market to ensure that new parts and/or services are purchased competitively and all opportunities for cost reduction are highlighted and delivered. The role is also accountable for ensuring that the supply base within that category is capable of meeting the quality and delivery expectations of the business.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
- Establishes ways to identify and quantify opportunities to reduce the cost of products and services for each category area.
- Awareness of technological and market changes which can result in delivering total cost improvements and implement best practice.
- Liaise with stakeholders assessing business requirements to ensure that they can deliver sourcing strategy.
- Deliver robust implementation plans in line with the sourcing strategy. These plans should support, but not be limited to:
- Effective early supplier engagement.
- Cost Saving projects.
- Tendering.
- Contracting.
- Capacity management.
- Supplier performance targets.
- Monitors progress of strategies and modifications in line with the changing business environment plans.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Comfortable in an in-person office environment
- Technical competence is a plus
- Must be customer service oriented, flexible, and have a high energy level
- Must have excellent follow-through skills
- Must have a professional, polished, and sophisticated demeanour and be comfortable in most social settings
- Must be open to domestic and international travel
- Desire and proven ability to learn and grow
- Must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employment tests, which will be conducted in accordance with applicable law.

Job Conditions
- Both office environment and occasionally manufacturing/factory environment.
- Subject to noise and temperature changes.
Physical Requirements
- Remain stationary, operate hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and move and/or walk.
- The employee must frequently move and/or transport up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
