Buyer

Hunting, Dearborn Division is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Buyer to negotiate, plan, and purchase goods and services (raw materials, equipment, outside services, MRO supplies), providing optimal value to the company. Develops and maintains supplier relationships to support company goals. A leader in manufacturing of highly advanced, precision machined components, Hunting Dearborn machines specialty alloy products to blueprint, providing solutions to our global customer's toughest challenges in industries spanning aerospace and defense, space exploration, power generation, petroleum, nuclear, sub-surface, transportation, and a host of commercial industries, from our state-of-the-art facility.

Responsibilities

• Accurately generates requests for quotes, purchase orders and associated documentation.
• Effectively and proactively communicates with internal customers and suppliers in regard to purchases and projects.
• Generates year over year cost savings for assigned commodities and goods/services.
• Develops, manages, and maintains supplier relationships for assigned Commodity/Category.
• Manages supplier performance in regard to quality, on time delivery and cost.
• Continually building supplier relationship skills with the ability to take control and coordinate activity associated with supplier.
• Evaluates supplier proposals/quotes and works with internal customer to determine most desirable option based on the current requirement.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries with freight services and tracking shipments.
• Prepare and process critical paperwork such as packing slips, bills of lading and international customs forms.
• Be creative while multitasking and decision making.
• Understand standard concepts and best practices and procedures within the Purchasing/ Supply Chain field.
• Perform a variety of tasks related to Purchasing, Scheduling, Inventory and Operations.
• Provide guidance and assist Department colleagues as required.
• Perform additional tasks as required or assigned by manager.

Requirements

• Demonstrates high level of knowledge in job function area.

• Communicates in an effective, clear, and organized manner (oral and written).
• Follows expected guidelines regarding client and organizational communication data sensitivity with appropriate regard to complexity.
• Self-directed and resourceful with regard to individual and team problem solving. Initiates new processes or ideas and channels appropriately to improve customer service within quality guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in Purchasing/ Supply Chain field or in a related field preferred.
• Microsoft Office experience at intermediate level preferred.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, day schedule, 8 or more hours per day.
• On-site presence is required.
