An international leader in aviation, Heroux-Devtek is the world’s 3rd largest producer of landing gear, serving the civil and military aerospace markets from production facilities in North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. The Strongsville facility (100,000 sq. ft., 90+ employees) is a center of excellence for the final assembly of landing gear, focusing on critical machining operations for major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, as well as military programs including the F-18, F-35, C-17, and C-130. The division emphasizes advanced manufacturing processes, machining automation, and techniques to remain a best-value producer of complex landing gear components.
About the role
The Buyer is responsible for preparing and submitting RFQs (requests for quotations), analyzing proposals, communicating with suppliers, negotiating price, lead time, and terms, and coordinating with operations, finance, and sales.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit request for quotes.
- Analyze proposals, negotiate best prices, lead time, terms, and conditions.
- Confirm and execute all MRP requirements in a timely fashion.
- Prepare purchase orders, ensuring all required documentation accompanies the P.O.
- Expedite open purchase orders, ensure on-time delivery, and update the ERP system with delivery changes.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers through regular communication.
- Request techniques/manufacturing plans from suppliers for customer approval.
- Ensure routing, PO, and job subcontract costs match in the system.
- Ensure routing, lead times, and job subcontract costs align in the system.
- Conduct weekly reviews of open PO reports.
- Maintain familiarity with AS9100/NADCAP procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of INCOTERMS and ITAR Regulations (FARs, DFARS).
- Own the Monthly Supplier Scorecard Report.
- Generate procurement reports as needed.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Baan ERP, SAP S4 Hana, Microsoft Excel, and QlikSense preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and represent the company professionally.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
