Buyer

About the role

Under the direction of the Purchasing Supervisor, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing quality and cost-effective products and services. This position improves and controls inventory levels, customer service stockouts, purchase price variances, inventory turns, and systems and processes currently in place to ensure on-time delivery. This will be achieved by maintaining HellermannTyton's IATF16949/ISO9001 Quality and ISO14001 EMS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRP purchasing.
• Use target inventory reports to assist in determining order quantities.
• Buying limit of approval $5000
• Evaluate vendors
• Negotiate costs
• Control purchase price variance.
• Control inventory levels.
• Oversee and expedite purchase orders to achieve on-time delivery.
• Review past-due orders.
• Coordinate requests for quotes.
• Process manual requisitions.
• Continuous improvement to explore reducing vendor base.
• Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton's TS16949/ISO14001 certification by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
• Train and assist as needed.
• Obtain MSDS sheets.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Materials Management or equivalent preferred.
• 2 + years of experience in buying function required.
• Previous MRP buying preferred.
• PC knowledge.
• CPM certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and adequate insurance.
• Skills: ERP System, Target Inventory Buying System, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook
