About the role
Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our team. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality materials to support production and operational needs. This role involves supplier management, cost optimization, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery. The Buyer works closely with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain strong relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to meet production and operational requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and improve supplier performance.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
- Collaborate with production planning and operations teams to ensure appropriate inventory levels and avoid shortages or excess stock.
- Identify and implement strategies to enhance procurement efficiency, reduce costs, and improve supply chain processes.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, and cost data to drive informed decision-making.
- Work closely with engineering, production, finance, and logistics teams to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- Familiarity with materials used in manufacturing, particularly for high-performance industrial products like air-cooled heat exchangers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience with imports and customs clearance.
- Experience with cost management, budgeting, and inventory control.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to procurement.
Work environment and physical demands
- The Senior Buyer role requires occasional walking around the facility for supplier visits or inventory inspections.
- While the position primarily involves office work, it may involve occasional lifting of materials or documents up to 25–30 pounds.
- The role requires reviewing contracts and procurement documents, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in meetings.
- Physical stamina is needed for extended periods of sitting and walking.
