About the role

Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America. Headquartered in Cary, N.C., the company serves residential and commercial customers across new construction and Repair & Remodel (R&R) markets. Mueller, Inc., part of Cornerstone Building Brands, is seeking a Buyer for its Ballinger, TX location to source, negotiate, and procure materials, equipment, and services for metal roofing operations.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase metal roofing materials such as steel coils, aluminum sheets, fasteners, coatings, insulation, and accessories
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, mills, and distributors
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and production teams to maintain optimal stock
• Issue purchase orders and track order status to ensure on-time delivery
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, and delivery reliability
• Stay informed on market trends, including metal pricing fluctuations (steel, aluminum, etc.)
• Collaborate with project managers and estimators to forecast material needs
• Resolve issues related to delays, shortages, or defective materials
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2+ years of purchasing/procurement experience preferred
• Manufacturing administrative support experience preferred
• PC proficiency and good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to resolve problems internally and externally
• Ability to think conceptually and produce desired results
• Understanding of metal markets (steel, aluminum pricing trends)
• Ability to read construction drawings and material takeoffs
• Experience with inventory management systems
• Analytical mindset with cost‑control focus
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
